Adrian Stimson
Artist's Statement
Adrian A. Stimson is a member of the Siksika (Blackfoot) Nation in southern Alberta. After obtaining a BFA with distinction from the Alberta College of Art & Design, he moved to Saskatoon, where he completed his MFA at the University of Saskatchewan. He is an interdisciplinary artist whose research has included identity, metaphysics, two spirit people, ecology, spirit and healing modalities within artists’ practice.
Adrian was awarded the Queen Elizabeth ll Golden Jubilee Medal in 2003 and the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2005 for his human rights and diversity activism in various communities.
